Sales Infiltration: The Final Lesson From San Quentin and Lompoc on Getting Inside the System

Sales Infiltration: The Final Lesson From San Quentin and Lompoc on Getting Inside the System
What happens when a legendary sales trainer spends years inside San Quentin and Lompoc? Ben Gay III learned that some of his most valuable lessons about sales, relationships, influence, and human behavior would come from behind prison walls.
In this final conversation about his prison experiences, Ben shares how he used what he calls “sales infiltration” to build relationships, earn trust, and become an accepted part of systems he was never supposed to control. He also talks about self-reliance, resilience, and the powerful lesson an inmate once gave him: “You will be alone again in your life, but you’ll never be lonely.”
And because this is Ben, there are plenty of stories, laughs, hard-earned wisdom, and a few moments that will make you stop and think. His takeaway? “Prison isn’t where you are. It’s where you aren’t.”
Looking to add some serious sales wisdom to your entrepreneurial library? Find The Closers Books by Ben Gay III at Ronzone Books on eBay. Each book is signed and dated by Ben and arrives with FREE rapid shipping, making it a great addition to the library of anyone serious about mastering the art of selling.

Randy is the author of the recently published book, The Closers, Part 7, and if you think trade shows and conventions are just places where you stand around, hand out brochures, and hope somebody buys something, Randy is about to change the way you look at them.
Randy has built a very successful career around trade shows, conventions, relationship-building, and, most importantly, the follow-up that happens after the show is over.
Ben says Randy’s book opened his eyes to opportunities he had missed in his own selling career, and he makes a very strong point: most of the good of a trade show happens after the trade show. That’s what makes The Closers, Part 7 such a valuable addition to the Closers family. And Randy is not just talking about selling. He’s out there doing it.
Pick up The Closers, Part 7 and learn how to turn trade shows, conventions, and the relationships you build there into a serious part of your sales strategy.

    The Psychology of AI Adoption

    28.08.2026 | 1 godz. 5 min.
Dr. Gleb Tsipursky is a behavioral scientist, bestselling author, and CEO of Disaster Avoidance Experts. Known as the “Disaster Avoidance Expert,” Gleb helps leaders and organizations make better decisions, avoid costly cognitive biases, and navigate the human side of workplace change.

He is the author of several acclaimed books, including Never Go With Your Gut, and his newest release, The Psychology of AI Adoption at Work: From Resistance to Results, arrives September 1 from Georgetown University Press, with a foreword by Stanford economist Nick Bloom. The book explores why AI adoption often stalls—not because the technology fails, but because people fear, resist, or misunderstand the change—and offers practical, psychology-based strategies for turning that resistance into results.

In this conversation, Gleb shares how entrepreneurs, solo professionals, and small teams can use AI more thoughtfully and effectively than larger organizations often do. We talk about building confidence around AI, creating internal champions, measuring meaningful results, and using behavioral science to make smarter business decisions in an increasingly AI-driven workplace.

Sales Infiltration Behind Bars: San Quentin to Lompoc

    26.08.2026 | 1 godz. 1 min.
The Closers Inner Circle Podcast Episode: Sales Infiltration Behind Bars — From San Quentin to Lompoc

Ben Gay III spent 11 and a half years in and around prisons — five years teaching at California's infamous San Quentin State Prison, and more than six years as an inmate at Lompoc Federal Penitentiary. In both environments, he learned how to read the system, identify the people who mattered, establish trust, and ultimately make the system work for him.

Last time, Ben told us how he talked his way into San Quentin and built a program that reached thousands of inmates. This week, he and Denise turn the tables: San Quentin was voluntary. Lompoc wasn't.

Ben walked into Lompoc with nothing — and walked out, by his own account, as the most successful inmate there. Along the way he taught basic English and writing to a class full of Hell's Angels, learned the hard way that a well-timed detail about your old Honda 550 can undo weeks of trust-building, and met a 19-year-old drug dealer named Lamont Bournes in a public speaking class — a relationship that would eventually make Lamont part of Ben's family and lead to Lamont's own book, Don't Let Your Past Hold You Back: The Redemption of a Gangster.

It's the same technique Ben calls sales infiltration, tested in a place with far less room for error. Tune in as Ben and Denise dig into how it worked from the inside.

Get Ben's Closers books, Parts 1 and 2, at Ronzone Books on eBay.

Hurricane Katrina: The Truth About the Levee Failures

    21.08.2026 | 1 godz. 7 min.
Welcome back to Your Partner in Success Radio. I’m Denise Griffitts, and today we’re talking about something that happened more than two decades ago, but whose lessons are still very much with us.

August 29th marks the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, a catastrophe that changed New Orleans and the Gulf Coast forever. My guest today knows that story from a very personal perspective.

Sandy Rosenthal is the founder of Levees.org and the author of Words Whispered in Water: Why the Levees Broke in Hurricane Katrina. After Katrina and the catastrophic flooding that followed the federal levee failures, Sandy refused to simply accept the official explanation for what had happened. She began asking questions, digging for answers, and ultimately helped expose the role of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the disaster.

And what I find particularly compelling about Sandy’s story is that she demonstrates something we all need to remember: you can change the world from your own backyard.

O Denise Griffitts - Your Partner In Success™ Radio!
Your Partner In Success™ Radio, ranked in the top 1.5% of podcasts globally, is where real entrepreneurs tell the stories they don't usually get asked for — the messy middle, not just the highlight reel. Host Denise Griffitts AKA as a Nerd In Stilettos, sits down with founders, innovators, authors, and business builders, digging past the polished pitch to find out what actually worked, what didn't, and what they'd tell themselves at the start. It's a show built on the idea that the best business education comes from people who've actually lived it — recorded, fittingly, from a home office assisted by a pair of famously opinionated giant ginger cats.
