- This is a special one: the full recording of our live webinar with Dan Laframboise from Rewind, in the feed now because the clock matters. Black Friday really starts November 1, when your store goes into a change freeze. Shopify backs up its platform, not your store’s data, and there’s no undo button. Dan deletes products live, brings them back, and walks through the 10-question Store Resilience Scorecard. Listen before your freeze.
Download the Resilience Scorecard PDF to go along with this episode here: https://www.shopify1percent.com/downloads/resillience-scorecard/
💡 KEY TAKE-AWAYS:
Does Shopify actually back up your store? We asked the live audience, and the real answer surprises a lot of merchants
Why a CSV export isn’t a backup (and what that means for your product photos)
Who’s most likely to break your Shopify store before Black Friday? Rewind says human error is behind 85% of data loss
Dan deletes a product on a live stream and brings it back in seconds, then wipes all 39 and runs a bulk restore
Should you restore one item or roll the whole store back to a date? When you’d use each, and how far back your versions go
How 11,000 mistakenly edited products came back in 30 minutes
The 10-question Store Resilience Scorecard, from bulk pricing apps and CSV imports to AI tools, and what your score out of 10 says about your risk
How a staging store with one-way sync (up to 10 stores) lets you test changes before they touch your live store
Monitoring that runs your key flows up to checkout every 24 hours, or whenever your theme changes
Why Black Friday really starts November 1, and what your change freeze should lock down
Is it too late to add a backup app this close to Black Friday? Dan explains why it isn’t

Most Shopify stores send the same Black Friday email to the customer who bought an hour ago and the subscriber who hasn't opened anything since spring. In this episode I walk through the 3 questions that sort your list into 5 audiences, what each one should get, and when to stop emailing them. We follow a made-up coffee store and a customer named Dana through the whole sale, then build every segment in Shopify and Omnisend, including the one setting that sends "Still thinking about it?" to people who already bought.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
• Which 3 questions sort your whole email list before Black Friday, and why does the order matter?
• Why should someone who bought 2 hours ago drop out of every promo, and what do they get instead?
• Why keep one public offer for every audience, even your best customers?
• Which automatic resend setting can email buyers by mistake during a sale?
• Who's the sixth group, and how can emailing them hurt every other inbox?
• What single number tells you if your Black Friday emails worked?

⭐️ SATHI ⭐️
This episode is brought to you by SATHI, the best affiliate platform built for Shopify brands.
70% of influencer-driven revenue isn't showing up in your dashboard. Codes are leaking. Affiliates are ghosting. And you're paying commissions on sales that never should've counted.
SATHI fixes all of it. Built by the incredible team behind SARAL (200+ top brands, $59M in revenue with influencers).

⭐️ REWIND ⭐️
The undo button for Shopify. I’ve watched merchants lose entire catalogs to one bad import or an app update... Shopify’s own terms make your store data your responsibility. Rewind backs up your products, themes, orders, and customers automatically, and restores one item, or your whole store in a couple of clicks.
In my opinion, if you're actually serious about your Shopify business, you absolutely should have Rewind running on it. There's no excuses not to have it backed up. Rewind is trusted by 25,000+ businesses including Olaplex and Dr. Martens. Set it up once and have peace of mind forever.

⭐️ OMNISEND ⭐️
I personally use Omnisend for email and SMS on every Shopify store I manage, and for this show too! I've tried them all, and it's hands down the best way to run every email and SMS automation and campaign you need, segment to personalize them, and A/B test everything to optimize conversion.
PLUS, you can now connect Omnisend to ChatGPT or Claude and just ask “where can my email and SMS be making more money?” It reads your actual store data and tells you, then builds the campaign for you right from the chat. It even writes in your brand's voice. Fifteen years doing this and it's the closest I've felt to having a full-time marketer sitting beside me. (Plus most merchants report paying about half the price of Klaviyo.)

34:25 Recap Your Biggest Shopify Data Risk (And Why Your Store Isn’t Backed Up, Even on Plus)
19.10.2026 | 1 godz. 1 min.Does Shopify back up my store? Sort of, and the “sort of” is the problem. Mike Potter, co-founder and CEO of Rewind, explained it with a meteorite. If one hits Shopify’s servers, they can bring the whole platform back. If you wipe your own catalogue with a bad CSV at 2 a.m., they can’t pick your one store out of the haystack. In 11 years and over 200,000 stores, Mike says he’s never seen the platform cause the problem. It’s apps, agencies, CSV files, the odd cat on a keyboard. And mostly, us.
So if you’re asking yourself “can I get back products I deleted on Shopify?” or “is a CSV export good enough as a backup?”, this episode is for you. And if you’ve ever re-imported a price sheet that was off by one row (I have, and it changed the wrong price on every single SKU), you already know why I wanted Mike on.
💡 KEY TAKE-AWAYS:
What the shared responsibility model means when you delete your catalogue and call Shopify support to get it back (Mike used to dare merchants to try it)
Why Rewind has a saying, “Friends don’t let friends use CSV files,” and the product image problem behind it
How to roll back just your product images to Monday at 5 p.m. without touching the sale prices you set this morning
Where Mike would let AI write to your store today, and where he’d still want a human checking the work first
Why Mike thinks a November 1 code freeze before Black Friday is overkill, and how long he’d actually lock things down
The UK baby shoe store whose inventory app deleted its whole catalogue in December 2015, and how that one call turned Rewind from a side project into a business

Some of the best people to recommend your Shopify store already have your order confirmation in their inbox, and you probably don't know who they are. In this episode I build the whole affiliate and creator pipeline: the 3 places your next creators are hiding, the 4 checks I run before reaching out, and the short message that actually gets replies. I also walk through how immi built a 432-person ambassador program, the simple invitation math behind getting 100 creators posting, and the weekly calendar that keeps it all running. There are 2 free downloads with this one to help you run your first recruiting batch.

In 2006, MySpace was getting paid to chase traffic, while Facebook's growth team chased one number: seven friends in ten days. One played for clicks, the other played for people who come back. In this 1% Win episode of Shopify1Percent, I walk through the stupid games Shopify merchants play every day, the stupid prizes each one hands you, and the better game to play instead.
We get into chasing first orders, trusting platform ROAS, celebrating a record Black Friday, training customers to wait for discounts, and paying your agency on the wrong number. Then two bonus games, including the one most founders are losing without knowing it (me included). Along the way, I show you the Shopify numbers that actually matter and where to find them in your Shopify admin, from the Customer cohort analysis report to Sidekick to the cost per item field most stores leave blank. By the end, you'll pick the one number your Shopify store should be playing for, and know how to get it 1% better every week.
