Who Won The First Sprint Of The Tour de France? | Stage 5 Breakdown

    08.07.2026 | 35 min.
The sprinters finally got their chance to make their mark on the 2026 Tour de France, and after a long day on the roads of southern France, the fastest men in the world delivered exactly the spectacle everyone was anticipating.

The one rider determined to delay the inevitable was Baptiste Veistroffer, who spent almost the entire stage riding solo off the front of the race. His brave breakaway finally came to an end with just 14km remaining, as the sprint teams took complete control and lined up for a frantic finish.

What followed was classic Tour de France chaos. High speeds, nervous positioning, crashes and near misses turned the final kilometres into a battle of survival before the fastest man in the race powered through the carnage to claim the stage victory.

Ned Boulting and David Millar break down Stage 5 of the Tour de France 2026.

Lidl-Trek Dominate Stage 4 of the Tour de France | Breakdown Podcast

    08.07.2026 | 43 min.
Stage 4 of the 2026 Tour de France was always expected to be a day for the breakaway, and that's exactly how it unfolded. A 34-rider move escaped early and stayed clear, setting up a fascinating tactical battle between some of the strongest breakaway riders in the race.

Biniam Girmay bested rivals Jasper Philipsen and Mads Pedersen to the intermittent sprint points and then sat up. He was never interested in the stage, but Lidl-Trek were the team of the day. Mads Pedersen, Quinn Simmons and their teammates were in complete control. It was inevitable that one of them would take the stage. While Lidl-Trek celebrated the stage victory, the yellow jersey also changed hands as another rider moved into the overall race lead. Tadej Pogacar was clearly happy to allow this.

Jonas Loses Yellow in Extreme Heat | Tour de France Stage 3 Breakdown

    06.07.2026 | 43 min.
Stage 3 of the 2026 Tour de France saw the race cross the Spanish border into France for the first time, with a 195.9km route from Granollers to Les Angles. Now the race really begins. On paper, it wasn’t expected to be a decisive GC stage, but that’s becoming increasingly rare in the modern peloton, and once the road pitched upwards, the biggest names were right at the front.

UAE Team Emirates produced a tactical masterclass in the finale. Isaac Del Toro emptied the tank with a huge pull on the final climb before Tadej Pogačar launched to take the stage victory, the yellow jersey from Jonas Vingegaard, and the first real psychological blow of this year’s Tour.

Shock Victory & Chaotic Start | What Happened On Stage 1? | Tour De France Breakdown

    04.07.2026 | 36 min.
Stage 1 of the 2026 Tour de France delivered chaos from the very start in Barcelona, with a fast and technical 19.6km team time trial that opened the race right up.

It was complete carnage for INEOS. A puncture for Kévin Vauquelin, Egan Bernal and Thymen Arensman both dropped, and Filippo Ganna left to finish the stage completely alone after riding away from his own teammates. Despite setting a time 30 seconds faster than Mathieu van der Poel, it still wasn’t enough for the win.

The shock came from Visma. After questions over their team time trial strength coming in without Wout Van Aert, Jonas Vingegaard and his team delivered a huge statement ride to take Stage 1 - with Vingegaard beating Ganna by 7 seconds to claim the first yellow jersey. Was anyone expecting that?

Plus: our Muc-Off Moment of the Day, a look ahead to Stage 2 and an inside scoop on EF Education Easy Post’s new aero helmet designed by POC.

O For The Love Of Cycling
For The Love Of Cycling is exactly what it sounds like. Four people obsessed with cycling. Ned Boulting has spent decades narrating the drama from the commentary box, bringing the stories of the peloton to life, spotting the moments others miss and putting words to the madness. David Millar knows that madness better than most. A former pro who raced at the very top and brings a sharp, unfiltered view of how the sport really works. Pete Kennaugh brings the view from inside the bunch, a former Team Sky road captain who’s ridden through the chaos of Grand Tours and come out the other side with the kind of insight you only get from being there. And Lizzie Deignan adds world-class insight from the women’s peloton, with the experience of a champion who’s raced, won, and helped shape the sport. Between them, they’ve lived cycling from just about every angle. They’ll take you into the heart of the biggest (and smallest) races. Not just what happened, but what it felt like. The atmosphere at the start line, the tension in the bunch, the strange, brilliant, exhausting rhythm of the road. It’s as much about the stories and the people of the sport as it is the results.
