Time Extend Revo | A Racing Game Podcast

Our first episode back from our 2025 hiatus explores Nintendo's classic arcade racing series all about boosting and big air. What else could you really say links 1984's Excitebike with its N64 sequel, Excite Truck, and especially Excite Bots on the Wii? In any case, they all certainly bring the excitement, and we'll proudly throw this one on the pile of forgotten racing franchises that Nintendo ought to revisit. Probably not before a proper, new mainline F-Zero and Wave Race, though.

We're now some weeks removed from Tokyo Xtreme Racer's successful Steam Early Access launch, but we couldn't just move on without chatting about the game, so that's what this episode is all about. Andrew, Paul, and Adam caught up on what they loved (pretty much everything), what they'd want to see addressed as development continues (really just menu navigation), and the simple joy of revisiting the quirks that made this franchise so great in the first place, in a brand-new title.

Of the many beloved rally games that don't get made anymore, one short-lived series has a habit of getting overlooked. But if you had an Xbox way back when, you knew how special—and how ahead of its time—Rallisport Challenge was. Time Extend finally gives DICE's classics their due in this episode, just after some quick-and-dirty impressions on the new Tokyo Xtreme Racer (spoiler: it's great) and before Andrew accidentally wins a sealed copy of a game nobody remembers for a penny on Yahoo Auctions Japan. Snowboarding was weirdly big in the '90s, wasn't it? The boys pay tribute to this forgotten genre by covering the most—and least—memorable titles that involve that most extreme of extreme sports, from the ones you know like SSX and Amped to oddities like Steep Slope Sliders and Evolution Snowboarding. Technically, we don't talk about every snowboarding game in this almost two-hour pod, but this one might just set a Time Extend record for the number of different games discussed. Even Final Fantasy VII gets a passing mention!
