This week on the Brief Talk Podcast, UNB Tim sits down with Scott, founder of Sweaty Johnson, a jockstrap brand that combines classic inspiration, premium fabrics, comfort, humor, and a whole lot of personality.

Scott shares the unexpected story behind starting Sweaty Johnson after working long hours in the oil industry, stepping away to run a nonprofit, and eventually deciding he wanted to build something of his own. Even the name has a family connection—Scott’s last name is Johnson, and his dad was the one who suggested “Sweaty Johnson.”

From there, Tim and Scott get deep into jockstraps.

Scott explains why Sweaty Johnson doesn’t simply put its logo on an existing product. The brand develops its own pouches and focuses heavily on fabrics, construction, waistband proportions, comfort, and fit. The lineup includes classic cotton jocks, incredibly soft micromodal options, and performance styles designed to provide more support for guys wearing them through workouts, dancing, events, or long nights out.

Tim immediately gravitates toward the Icon jock, with its striped waistband and unmistakable old-school athletic-jock inspiration. The two talk about what made vintage jocks so memorable, why the pouch is such an important part of the design, and how a modern jock can still capture that classic look without sacrificing comfort.

They also talk thongs, whale tails, limited-edition gear, and Sweaty Johnson’s wildly successful 24-hour releases. Scott shares how one of the brand’s May the Fourth-inspired drops sold close to 10,000 jocks in just 24 hours.

Another major part of Sweaty Johnson is the photography. Rather than relying only on the traditional six-pack underwear model, Scott uses friends of different body types, ages, and backgrounds. The result is a brand that feels much more like real guys having fun in underwear.

Scott and Tim also compare notes from behind the scenes of underwear photo shoots: finding photographers, organizing models, preparing every look in advance, dealing with locations, keeping everyone comfortable, and why a great photographer is worth every penny.

Of course, running an underwear company isn’t all jocks and photo shoots. Scott and Tim somehow end up bonding over one of the least glamorous parts of owning a business—sales tax.

Scott also hints that Sweaty Johnson has much more coming, including expansion of the jock collection and products beyond jockstraps.

Chris, better known online as the Crimson Ginger, returns to Brief Talk for a one-on-one conversation with UNB Tim about something that looks easy from the outside but takes a surprising amount of work: consistently posting underwear pics online.

Chris has been sharing his underwear pics for about six years, but even he admits that what looks like a perfectly consistent posting schedule isn’t always what it seems. He and Tim talk about creating a backlog of photos, posting pictures days—or even weeks—after they’re taken, and why delaying posts can be a smart move for both privacy and personal safety.

From there, they get into the actual process behind Chris’s pictures. Chris shares how he uses his iPhone, Apple Watch, a Bluetooth remote, a ring light, and the three-second timer to get his shots. Surprisingly, he doesn’t take hundreds of photos looking for the perfect one. Usually, it’s a simple front, side, and back—and he’s done.

But taking the picture is only part of it.

Tim and Chris discuss the pressure that can come when people start expecting daily content. Followers asking, What are you wearing? Why didn’t you post today? Where’s today’s picture? can quickly turn something fun into another job. Chris talks about trying to keep posting enjoyable even when work, relationships, and everyday life get in the way.

They also get into something that doesn’t get discussed enough: boundaries.

Chris is comfortable showing off, but he still respects the boundaries he and his partner have established around what gets posted on certain platforms. It’s a great example of why communication matters when you’re in a relationship and sharing underwear, swimwear, gear, or more revealing content online.

Plus, Tim and Chris talk about being your own worst critic, finding poses that work for you, losing social accounts, keeping years of photos on your phone, social media privacy, and one very important rule:

Never casually swipe through someone else’s camera roll. You have been warned.

Eric, better known as The Jocker Room, returns to Brief Talk for an honest conversation about body image, social media, personal boundaries, and the assumptions people make when someone posts photos in underwear.

The conversation begins with an unexpected DM asking Eric whether he was using a weight-loss medication.
