בחמישי דפ' כי תבוא נאמר "ובאו עליך כל הברכות האלו והשיגוך", שגם כאשר ישנו "שוטה" הבורח מן הברכות מבטיחים לו שהברכות ישיגוהו! וההוראה: דובר כמ"פ אודות הצורך להתנהג עם כאו"א מישראל באופן של "ימין מקרבת", ועאכו"כ בחודש אלול, חודש הרחמים. ישנם כאלו שמצד הטבע של נפה"ב או מפני שגדל ונתחנך ללא הרכות והחום של "אם" וכיו"ב, צועק ורוגז על יהודים! וגם בחודש אלול, כשהמלך נמצא בשדה "ומקבל את כולם בסבר פנים יפות ומראה פנים שוחקות לכולם" – אינו יכול לפעול בעצמו לברך יהודים! (במקום להדר בקיום מצות "ואהבת לרעך כמוך" מהדר בקיום מצות "הוכח תוכיח"...) – הוא בורח מהברכות... וע"ז מבטיחה התורה שהברכות ישיגו אותו ויפעלו עליו שסוכ"ס יתחיל לברך את בנ"י בקול רם ובאהבה! ועד כסיום השיעור "ברוך אתה בבואך ו.. בצאתך" – כל היום, מהתחלתו עד סופו, ה"ה עסוק ב"ברוך"!

Synopsis

Chamishi of parashas Ki Savo states: “All these blessings will come upon you and overtake you…”: Even if someone is foolish enough try to run away from the blessings, he is assured that the blessings will overtake him! The lesson is as follows: As discussed many times, it is imperative to relate to other Jews with the “right hand that draws near,” and certainly during the month of Elul, the month of mercy. But there are those who (because of the nature of their animal soul, or because they were raised without the tenderness and warmth of a mother etc.) run away from blessings – they shout at other Jews and get angry with them, to the extent that even in the month of Elul (when the King is in the field and He “receives them all with a pleasant countenance and shows a smiling face to them all”) they are still unable to bring themselves to bless Jews. (Instead of excelling in the mitzvah to “Love your fellow like yourself,” they excel in the mitzvah, “You must surely rebuke…”) But the Torah promises such a person that the blessings will pursue him and overtake him, and have such an effect upon him that he will ultimately begin to bless Jews loudly and out of love. And as the verse states, “You will be blessed when you come and blessed when you leave” meaning, the entire day, from the beginning (“when you come”) to the end (“when you leave”), he is occupied with blessings.

ענינו המיוחד של ט"ו אלול (הקרוב אלינו) הוא יום התייסדות ישיבת תו"ת. ובש.ז. [תשמ"ב] ניתוסף שזה פ"ה שנה מאז – ה' פעמים טו"ב. והיינו שאז מתגלה למעלה, ונמשך למטה, שלימות ענין הטוב. אלא שצריכים לעשות הכלי לזה ע"י מעשינו ועבודתינו, ולכל לראש – בעיקר ענינה של הישיבה – לימוד התורה, נגלה התורה ביחד עם פנימיות התורה. וזהו החידוש ביסוד ישיבה זו שבה ילמדו במקום אחד נגלה דתורה ביחד עם פנימיות התורה באופן ד"תורה אחת". ובפשטות: גם בעת לימוד נגלה דתורה ניכר עליו שיש אצלו הענין ד"דע את אלקי אביך ועבדהו בלבב שלם". וזהו הקשר ליום ט"ו בחודש – "קיימא סיהרא באשלמותא": תכלית השלימות דחיבור נגלה ופנימיות התורה (מעשה ותלמוד, גוף ונשמה – בתורה גופא) תהי' לעת"ל כאשר המעמד ומצב דבנ"י יהי' בתכלית השלימות – "קיימא סיהרא באשלמותא".

Synopsis

15 Elul this year (5742 – 1982) marks the 85th anniversary of the founding of Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim. 85 is five times טו"ב (17), meaning the ultimate good is revealed Above and drawn down below. We only need to create the proper vessel for it, first and foremost by studying Torah in the unique manner introduced by Yeshivas Tomchei Temimim, where Nigleh and Chassidus are studied in the same Yeshiva and as one Torah. Meaning, even when one studies Nigleh, it should be evident that one “Knows the G-d of his father and serves Him with a whole heart.” This is also the connection to the 15th day of the month, when “the moon is in its complete state”: The ultimate union between Nigleh and Chassidus (respectively the body and soul of Torah) will be realized in the Future Redemption, when the Jewish people itself will attain a state of ultimate perfection.

כל הענינים כפי שהם בתורה, שקדמה לעולם, הם תכלית הטוב, כל עניני התורה הם חכמתו של הקב"ה ללא כל נפק"מ בתוכן הענין, ובלשון הרמב"ם בפירוש המשניות "ואין הפרש בין ובני חם כוש ומצרים.. ותמנע היתה פלגש, ובין אנכי ה' אלקיך ושמע ישראל, כי הכל מפי הגבורה והכל תורת ה' תמימה טהורה וקדושה אמת". וע"ד מה שאמר אדמו"ר האמצעי בנוגע קריאת התוכחה שבפ' כי תבוא ע"י אדה"ז ש"כשאבא קורא הערט זיך ניט קיין קללות!", כי קריאת אדה"ז היתה כפי שהענינים הם בתורה שקדמה לעולם, ואע"פ שקריאתו היתה למטה בעוה"ז, אבל בשעת מעשה הי' בעולם האצילות! וע"ד משה רבינו שגם בשעה שדיבר עם פרעה היתה "שכינה מדברת מתוך גרונו", ו"הי' מאיר בו אצילות בבחי' גילוי"!

Synopsis

Everything in the Torah is the ultimate goodness and part of Hashem’s wisdom, as the Rambam states in his Commentary to the Mishnah: “There is no difference between ‘The sons of Cham were Cush and Mitzrayim...’ or ‘Timna was a concubine,’ and ‘I am Hashem your G-d’ or ‘Listen, Yisroel,’ because it is all from mouth of the Almighty, and it is all Hashem’s perfect, pure, holy, and true Torah.” Based on this we can understand the Mitteler Rebbe’s remark regarding the tochecha in parashas Ki Savo, “When Father reads it, you don’t hear curses”: The Alter Rebbe’s reading reflected the reality in Torah as it preceded creation, and although he was reading it below in this world, at that same time he was in the World of Atzilus. This can be compared to Moshe Rabbeinu talking to Pharaoh in Egypt: Even when Moshe was talking to Pharoah, who embodied the lowest level of kelipah, the light of Atzilus shone within Moshe in a revealed manner, and “The Shechinah spoke from within his throat.”

הציווי ד"והלכת בדרכיו" [כמ"ש בפ' כי תבוא], "להדמות לו ית' כפי היכולת . . מה הקב"ה נק' חנון אף אתה הי' חנון .. רחום .. חסיד וכו'", מונה הרמב"ם במנין תרי"ג המצוות אף שלכאו' ה"ז "ציווי כולל" (שאינו נמנה במנין המצוות), כי בציווי זה יש חידוש: קיום המצוות מצ"ע יכול להיות באופן של "מצות אנשים מלומדה" ואז זה לא פועל עליו שום דבר והוא נשאר במעמדו ומצבו הקודם, וע"ז בא ציווי זה שקיום תומ"צ צ"ל באופן של "והלכת בדרכיו" ‏–‏ "הליכה", לצאת ממצבו הקודם. וזהו ע"י שמקיים המצוות בגלל שהם ציווי הקב"ה ‏–‏ "דרכיו", וכך מתקשר ה"אתה" עם "הקב"ה". והביאור: "הליכה" אמיתית היא כשעולה לדרגא שאין לה שום שייכות לדרגתו הקודמת, הליכה בלתי-גבולית, והדרך היחידה שאצל הנברא, בעל-גבול, יהי' "והלכת", הוא ע"י שמתקשר (ע"י הרבי, ה"ממוצע המחבר") עם עצומ"ה ית', נמנע הנמנעות ‏–‏ "דרכיו".

Synopsis

The Rambam includes among his count of 613 mitzvos the command, “You must walk in His ways” – “To emulate Him as much as possible…Just as the Holy One, blessed be He is gracious, so too you should be gracious…” Seemingly, this is in the category of general mitzvos, which the Rambam does not include in his count? The answer is that this mitzvah contains a unique element: One may keep the mitzvos by rote, in which case a mitzvah has no effect on the person, and he remains in his previous state. But the mitzvah to “walk in His ways” teaches us that one must truly advance, meaning beyond all connection to one’s previous state, which happens when one keeps the mitzvos because they are Hashem’s command. Because the only way a created, finite being can advance to a level infinitely higher than his previous level is by connecting (through the Rebbe, the intermediary who connects) to Hashem’s infinite Essence (“His ways”).

א) התחלת פ' כי תצא היא "כי תצא למלחמה על אויבך וגו'" ופרש"י ש"במלחמת רשות הכתוב מדבר", ועפ"ז יומתק הלשון "כי תצא למחמה וגו'" מכיון שיש ספק בדבר, ואדרבה - יהודי מצ"ע, כבנו יחידו של ממה"מ הקב"ה, אין לו שייכות כלל למלחמה! ולכן נאמר הלשון "כי תצא למלחמה", כי בשביל ענין המלחמה צריך יהודי לצאת ממעמדו ומצבו! אלא שמזמן לזמן רוצה ה' שתהי' היציאה למלחמה אלא שגם אז ה"ה "על אויבך". ב) שמו השני של נשיא דורנו הוא "יצחק" ע"ש הצחוק והשמחה, ואע"פ שאמחז"ל "אסור לאדם שימלא שחוק פיו בעוה"ז שנאמר אז (לעת"ל) ימלא שחוק פינו", הרי נשיא דורנו הוא "אז" (דור השמיני), והי' המשיח של דורנו שנתגלה בכל התוקף! וזהו מה שתבע ענין השמחה מחסידים כו'. ועוד.

Synopsis

(a) Rashi explains that the verse, “If you go out to war against your enemies…” refers to an optional war. This is why it says “If you go out to war” – there is a doubt whether the war will happen because on the contrary, as an only child to Hashem, a Jew by nature has no connection to war whatsoever. This is also why it says “…go out to war,” because for a Jew to wage war requires him to leave his natural state. While from time to time Hashem desires that they do go out to war, when they do then it is “above your enemy.” (b) The second name of the Nasi of our generation is Yitzchok, which connotes laughter and joy. Although our Sages taught, “It is forbidden for a person to fill his mouth with laughter in this world, as the verse states, “Then (אז) [in the future era] our mouths will be filled with laughter,’” nevertheless, the Nasi of our generation represents “Then,” because his is the eighth generation (א+ז=8), and he was the Moshiach of our generation, and therefore he demanded joy from the Chassidim etc.
