Punch Drunk Nerd (Weekly Nerd Talk + Pop Culture Reviews)

This week, we kick things off with our Feature Discussion on You Can See Everything. We break down the film, share our reactions, and get into what worked, what surprised us, and the conversations it left us having.
Then in What We’re Into, Ed takes us back to one of cinema’s most controversial films, Ken Russell’s The Devils (1971). We get into his review of the movie, its provocative themes, the censorship battles surrounding its release, and why it continues to spark debate more than 50 years later.
From our latest movie discussion to one of the most notorious films in cinema history, there’s plenty to unpack this week.

We’re in the full thrust of awards season now, movies are raining down on us and we can scarcely keep up!
With WHALEFALL, STREET FIGHTER, and YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING releasing this weekend alone, we had to take a step back and see what the fall season has in store.
And ooo-wee there’s a lot to keep up with, but which movies are we most looking forward to seeing?
Then we have even more to look forward to with some new trailers!  We return to the Blade Runner world with the upcoming Amazon series, BLADE RUNNER 2099, we brace ourselves as Scarlett Johansson delves into a another franchise with THE EXORCIST: MARTYRS from Mike Flannagan!  And we get our first glimpse of what Greta Gerwig has been cooking up over at Netflix with NARNIA: THE MAGICIANS’ NEPHEW!

DIGGER didn’t make waves at the box office, but are audiences giving the movie a chance it deserves?

This week Miguel and Ed share their theatrical experience and initial reaction to Tom Cruise’s DIGGER, and what we have to say may surprise you.

Then we get into spoiler territory (warning included) and discuss the movie’s turning point and what may be the reasons behind the polarizing response.

PLUS we get the opportunity to share our thoughts on the A24 Robert Pattinson thriller, PRIMETIME, and there's more than just the R-Patts to this film

Uhoh

Did we enjoy a RESIDENT EVIL movie at long last?

Well, we never saw the other ones, but we couldn’t resist checking out the latest horror outing from Zack Cregger, and did it meet expectations?  At least for some of us, this was an endlessly fun horror romp, with a surprising number of laughs to boot!  Check out the episode for our review!

PLUS we have a handful of new trailers - continuing on in old hollywood with THE FURTHER MIS-ADVENTURES OF CLIFF BOOTH, getting into even weirder territory with Nathan Fielder in the much buzzed-about documentary YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING, and our very first look at Brad Bird’s passion project animation, RAY GUNN!
And, of course, what we’re into with games like GTA V and the much maligned WOLVERINE (is it really that bad?). Then Ed catches up on WIDOWS BAY, TONY, and sheds some light on a classic.
All that and more! Tune in to find out and join us weekly for new episodes, where you can find them wherever you get your podcasts, also on Youtube.  Don’t forget to like and subscribe, follow us on social media, and feel free to leave us the occasional comments, we want to know your thoughts!
